Final assembly has begun

I've just finished working for today. Classic And Custom Saturday Night Cruise in Warsaw this weekend was fantastic, so on Sunday I came back to my garage with more motivation than ever. I've put the engine back into the frame. Yesterday I started assembling the rear suspension - new bearings, new seals, everything cleaned and properly greased :) I'm still waiting for new bearings and seals for the swingarm but I should have them on Thursday. Tomorrow I will begin working on the front suspension and until Saturday the bike has to stand on wheels, because a friend from Klub Kotocyklistow Politechniki Lodzkiej is coming to design a brand new, custom exhaust system ^^ CAN'T WAIT!! :D

Naked frame

Final disassembly went smoothly, but I started wondering if I will be able to put it all back together.

Engine is out!

Finally managed to take the engine out. If I have enough time to prepare everything then on Saturday most of the parts will be taken for painting. So psyched! :]

Toolbox

It turned out that I have plenty of free space under the fuel tank.
I'm a kind of guy who always likes to carry some tools on the bike, just in case.
This two combined resulted in creating a useful toolbox mounted under the tank.
The box itself is made of a PVC pipe, an idea already tested in my previous bike and working well :)
This piece of metal on the bottom serves as a stopper for the pipe and at the same time is a fuse box holder.

Up to this moment welding is definitely the most difficult part. I wish I had more skills and a better welding machine. Anyway, so far so good.

Tank holders

At first I thought I was lucky and will not have to do anything with the front tank holders because they fitted perfectly. It turned out that in order to maintain an appropriate tank-frame line I have to lift the tank about 3cm, so I made a nice pair of mountings, which will also be used to hold some electric stuff.

Visualization

Made some serious progress recently. I finally managed to put the wheels together – I painted both rims, put on new bearings, new seals, new tube for the front wheel and tires of course. I also lowered the front suspension – in summary the front of the bike is now about 10 cm lower than originally. Now I have to slightly raise the front mountings of the fuel tank and modify the whole sub-frame. That will be a challenge, I’m excited.

Out of the blue

I have tens of things more important to do with the bike than this, so it’s not the most appropriate time to mount mirrors, but who cares. I accidentally found a pair of nice mirrors and a sudden idea bumped into my head on how I want to mount them. I got down to work and made a pair of holders. Came out great in my opinion – take a look:

Aluminum balls enabling mirror rotation were made of the remaining part of recently cut off ignition switch mounting – that’s what you call recycling :]
